Ten Volunteers needed to be Research Assistants

Nothing to do after the exams? Are you free between 13th and 17th May?

UVC is looking for 10 volunteers to assist in a research project on fisheries resources in Brunei Darussalam. This research is carried out by a Bruneian PhD student from Warwick University, UK. A brief introduction of the study is as follows:

"Few field assistants are needed for a study of recreational fishery in Brunei. The study encompasses marine environmental issues and molecular biology, therefore will be especially valuable for those coming from the biological field. The data collection is being carried out over 5 days from the 13th May 2010 till the 17th May 2010. The field assistants will be responsible for (a) interviewing fishers that just got back from offshore fishing at fishing landing sites, (b) recording ‘landings’ data from fishers in (a), and (c) interviewing fishers on onshore fishing sites. The field assistants do not have to be available every day, but being on hand for at least three days would be preferable."

Only 10 places are available and registration is upon first-come-first-serve basis. Volunteers are also required to attend a short briefing on:

Date: 13th May 2010 (Thursday)
Time: 2.30 PM
Venue: Mathematics Resource Room (FSM 2.09),
2nd floor, Faculty of Science
Attire: Casual
