Attention: SOBD Technical Committee

There will be Bocce Officiating Course held in conjunction with Special Olympics Asia pacific Bocce Competition. To those who have volunteered for the technical committee, they are ENCOURAGED to participate in the Bocce Officiating Course (training course), as it would involve proper training of the Bocce competition for volunteers. The technical committee from UBD will be asked to be judges (specifically Line Judges) for the 3 days Bocce event, hence it is important to know the rules beforehand.

28th (Venue: Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies, Gadong)

0800 - Registration of participants
0830 - Introduction to Special Olympics
BREAK
1030 - Bocce: power-point presentation
Divisioning: theory and practical
LUNCH TIME
1400 - Bocce: Rules and regulations
*Specific Fouls and their penalties
1500 - Officiating Protocol
* Court Referee, Line Judges, Flag Official
* Walk through - Athletes' Staging Area to Athletes

29th: At venue of competition (Berakas Indoor Sports Complex, Multipurpose Hall)

Officiating practical (preferably with local athletes: singles, doubles, 4-player team with unified partners too)

(Test will be marked and results will be used as a guideline for assignment of duties on the courts. All officials to refer to notice board for details on officiating responsibilities for each day of competition.)

NOTE: All court officials/judges shall meet for a short briefing, 30 minutes before the competition starts for each day. A place shall be designated for this briefing.

To those who are interested to join this Bocce Officiating Course should come to CSPS (Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies) in Gadong on the 28th and register. This registration is also to confirm your volunteering from the 1st to 3rd October. Those who could not attend this course can STILL volunteer from the 1st to 3rd October.
