28 October 2009 (Wednesday) - Another busy day for the members of UBD Volunteering and Charity Club (UVC) when the "Plant Your Own Tree" event was officially launched last Wednesday. More than 60 students turned up for the workshop and tree planting activity which was held at the Biology Department, Faculty of Science and behind the UBD main entrance security post building.

"Plant Your Own Tree" is a result of a joint collaboration between the Department of Forestry, UBD Estate, MPP (student council) through Health, Security and Environment Exco (HSE) and UVC. It is similar to the "adopt-a-tree" programme where tree adopters are encouraged to take care of their own trees despite the cost of maintenence was inclusive in the $40 paid upon adopting. At the same time, this long term green project is aimed to raise the awareness of UBD undergraduates to the current global environmental issues, besides helping UBD towards a "greener university".
